TAUBMAN COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTURE + URBAN PLANNING

Graduate Research Assistant - University of Michigan

  • Work was done as a continuation of the Topology+ Timber thesis section taught by Tsz Yan Ng, Wes McGee, and the SOM Chicago Team. The research was funded by SOM and the final outdoor learning space/pavilion will be featured in the 2021 Chicago Architecture Biennial.

  • Part of 3 student team selected to finalize the pavilion design in collaboration with SOM.

  • Designed and fabricated prototypes to test assembly, fabrication, milling operations, joinery, etc.

  • Will be responsible for generating GCode for the final 5-Axis CNC milled timber members in
    MasterCAM 2020. We will then fabricate and machine all required timber pavilion members in Ann Arbor for final assembly in Chicago.

  • Will work with SOM team to generate and finalize required permit drawings for the city of Chicago.

Graduate Research Assistant - University of Michigan

  • Work was funded through the Spatializing Digital Pedagogies [SDP] research grant offered by Taubman in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Our proposal, Channel T.W.O. [Taubman Workshop Online], was intended to document the studio culture and experience of Taubman College prior to the pandemic to offer incoming students a better perspective into the school.

  • A series of videos with diverse topics and goals ranging from software tutorials to animations offering advice was generated by each team member.

JON ANDERSON ARCHITECTURE

  • Assisted in the programming of several new buildings in design. Met with clients to discuss program and needs for new facilities.

  • Participated in the design of several residential, commercial, and education projects.

  • Prepared and coordinated the drawing of Construction Documents within our office, and with consultants, for residential, commercial, and education projects.

  • Coordinated Construction Administration with General Contractor / Subcontractors for both residential and education projects.

  • In charge of graphics and renderings used for both award submissions as well as RFP’s.

  • Assisted in reviewing shop drawings, answering RFI’s, and issuing ASI’s to General Contractors.

CENTER FOR RESEARCH IN ADVANCED FABRICATION TECHNOLOGIES [CRAF+T]

Research Fellow - University of New Mexico

May 2015 - August 2016

  • Worked as part of an eight-person team designing and fabricating a 2500 sq. ft. exhibition titled, “The Weatherlab” for the Anderson-Abruzzo International Balloon Museum.

  • Worked as part of the three-person team in charge of designing 4 large, digitally fabricated installation pieces for the exhibit.

  • Worked with clients, museum administration, and city officials to finalize design, secure funding, and research other successful facilities.

  • Team was responsible for the planning, design, construction documents, shop drawings,prototyping, and fabrication of the exhibit pieces.

  • Exhibit opened in September 2017 and will remain as part of the museum for 10-15 years.

COUTY DESIGN BUILD

Rendering and Fabrication Consultant

Albuquerque, NM

February 2016 - May 2016

  • Created a series of design renderings done in association with Gensler | Los Angeles for Hotel Chaco; a new Resort Hotel under construction in Albuquerque.

  • Assisted in the design of a series of exterior trellis for Hotel Chaco.

  • Helped design assembly details for miscellaneous fabrication work

FX COLLABORATIVE [formerly FXFOWLE]

  • Worked in the Manhattan office of FXFowle, as part of the University of New Mexico Externship Program, for one week.

  • Shadowed architects during design meetings and charettes

  • Assisted in drawing review and relining

  • Also assisted in model shop work and setup.

Fabrication Assistant

  • Worked to ensure the safety and well-being of the students in the lab at all times.

  • Taught all general shop safety training and a variety of MIG Welding workshops.

  • Assisted with general lab maintenance and duties such as machine repairs, shop upkeep, and general construction projects around the lab/University.

  • Collaborated with the Center for Research in Advanced Fabrications Technology and assisted in the building of several installation pieces.
